Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has passed a lie detector test as part of the ongoing doping investigation following a failed drug test. The 23-year-old Ukraine international tested positive for meldonium, a substance that has previously been linked to performance enhancement, but Mudryk has consistently denied any intentional wrongdoing, insisting that he is innocent of the accusations. The investigation has kept Mudryk under a provisional suspension as his case is being examined further.

According to Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergei Palkin, Mudryk’s legal team organized the polygraph test to assist with the investigation. Speaking with GIVEMESPORT, Palkin explained that Mudryk had been deeply confused and concerned about the situation, as he does not understand how he could have failed the test. “I have spoken to Mudryk many times since this doping issue arose. He doesn’t understand how it could have happened,” Palkin said. “He has no clue. No idea at all.”

Palkin further confirmed that Mudryk passed the polygraph test, which he stated would be part of the evidence demonstrating that the winger did not intentionally do anything wrong. This comes as Mudryk’s legal team continues to await the results of his B-sample, which will determine whether the initial test results are accurate and could play a pivotal role in the outcome of the investigation. Until then, Mudryk remains under the Football Association’s provisional ban.

Despite his suspension, Palkin emphasized that both Shakhtar Donetsk and Chelsea, as well as Mudryk himself, are eager to see the matter resolved as quickly as possible. The suspension is causing financial strain due to the performance-related bonuses tied to his transfer, which could lead to potential losses. “If he’s not playing, it causes problems for us because we could potentially lose €30m,” Palkin noted. “We all support Mudryk and hope he is allowed to continue playing football soon.”

As the investigation continues, Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League match against Everton will proceed without Mudryk, who remains unavailable for selection due to the ongoing suspension. Mudryk’s situation remains uncertain, but all parties involved are hopeful for a resolution that will allow him to return to action soon.
