Chelsea have firmly decided that they have no intention of entertaining or considering any offers for their star midfielder Moises Caicedo, talkSPORT reports, even as Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr intensifies its interest in the highly-rated Ecuadorian player.
The 23-year-old Ecuador international, who was signed by Chelsea from Brighton in a blockbuster British-record deal worth £115 million in the summer of 2023, has quickly established himself as one of the most important and influential figures at Stamford Bridge. His exceptional performances, versatility, and leadership qualities have made him a marquee target for several top clubs, with Al Nassr now reportedly leading the chase for his signature.
However, Chelsea’s stance on Caicedo is resolute. The London club is fully prepared to resist any form of approach or negotiation attempt, no matter how lucrative, as they have labelled the midfielder an indispensable asset within their current squad. Sources close to the club revealed that Chelsea views Caicedo as a long-term cornerstone of their project under manager Enzo Maresca and would not entertain offers even in the region of £100 million.
Al Nassr, whose most expensive signing to date remains a £64 million deal for Colombian forward Jhon Duran, would reportedly need to table an astronomical offer well above £100 million just to prompt Chelsea to open discussions. Even then, insiders suggest the Blues are unlikely to budge, given their valuation of Caicedo has now risen significantly beyond the fee they originally paid to secure his services.
Adding to the complexity of any potential deal, Caicedo is under contract at Chelsea until 2031, granting the club full control over his immediate and long-term future. With this lengthy contract in place and no release clause known to be included, Chelsea’s position remains ironclad.
Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Caicedo has grown into a central figure under the guidance of manager Enzo Maresca. The midfielder has made an impressive 37 appearances across all competitions this season, delivering consistent and commanding performances. His influence on the pitch has seen him entrusted with the captain’s armband on several occasions — a clear indication of the trust and esteem in which he is held within the dressing room.
Maresca has been effusive in his praise for Caicedo, recently describing him as potentially “the best defensive midfielder in the world.” The Italian manager hailed the Ecuadorian star for his outstanding consistency, humility, tireless work ethic, and invaluable leadership qualities, which have been pivotal in Chelsea’s campaign this season.
As it stands, Chelsea remain committed to building their midfield around Moises Caicedo for years to come and have made it clear to interested parties — including Al Nassr — that their prized asset is simply not for sale at any price.
