Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to Rasmus Hojlund after the Danish forward imitated his iconic ‘Siu’ celebration during Denmark’s recent 1-0 victory over Portugal in the Nations League quarter-final first leg.

The match, played on Thursday, saw Hojlund net the decisive goal, after which he performed Ronaldo’s signature celebration, drawing widespread attention. The moment sparked discussions among football fans and analysts about whether the act was a show of admiration or a potential provocation toward the Portuguese superstar.

Following the match, the Manchester United striker addressed the situation, clarifying that his intention was not to disrespect Ronaldo but to pay homage to one of his biggest football inspirations.

“Cristiano is everything to me. I became a Manchester United fan because of him. I started self-training, doing push-ups, and sit-ups every day because of him,” Hojlund revealed in an interview with Danish media.

“I wanted to be Cristiano. That celebration was just my way of showing respect.”

However, Ronaldo, known for his competitive spirit, has made it clear that he intends to return the favor in the upcoming second-leg clash.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s crucial showdown at Estadio Jose Alvalade, the Portuguese captain acknowledged Hojlund’s tribute but also hinted at a response of his own.

“It’s no problem for me. I know it wasn’t out of disrespect. Many players copy my celebration—it’s an honour,” Ronaldo stated.

“But I hope to do it in front of him tomorrow.”

With Portugal aiming to overturn the first-leg deficit and secure a place in the Nations League semi-finals, all eyes will be on Ronaldo and whether he will get his moment to celebrate in front of Hojlund as he promised.
