Highly regarded Galatasaray legend, Tanju Çolak, has publicly thrown his weight behind Victor Osimhen as the standout performer of the season, boldly placing him ahead of former Chelsea forward and current teammate Alvaro Morata.

Osimhen, who is currently on loan from Napoli, has taken the Turkish Süper Lig by storm, producing an astonishing record of 28 goals and 5 assists in just 32 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray.

His electrifying performances have been the driving force behind Galatasaray’s campaign for a domestic double, especially highlighted by his vital contribution in their recent 2-1 Turkish Cup victory over fierce rivals, Fenerbahce.

Speaking to local media outlet habersarikirmizi, Çolak praised the Nigerian striker’s consistency, mentality, and influence within the squad.

“There is a squad in Galatasaray that is loyal to Osimhen,” Çolak remarked. “He sets a good example, he scores a lot of goals. Osimhen is the best player of the season. Without a doubt.”

The Turkish football icon was less complimentary of Spanish international Morata, who joined Galatasaray from AC Milan in the January transfer window amid high expectations.

In contrast to Osimhen’s explosive form, Morata has struggled to make an impact, managing only two goals and one assist in his first five league appearances for the Istanbul-based club.

Çolak didn’t shy away from criticizing Morata’s lack of drive and underwhelming contributions. “Morata does not score goals, he does not fight. If it were me, I would not buy this guy,” he stated bluntly.

Osimhen’s remarkable season has reignited interest from some of Europe’s footballing giants, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), all of whom are reportedly monitoring the striker closely.

With his loan spell drawing to a close and a summer exit from Napoli appearing inevitable, the 25-year-old striker’s performances in the final stretch of the season may very well determine his next destination among Europe’s elite.
