Former Nigerian midfielder, Oluwaseyi Olofinjana, shared insights into his personal thoughts on his sons pursuing football as a profession. Speaking exclusively to Brila.net, Olofinjana expressed that initially, he had reservations about his two sons following in his footsteps, stating, “Football is a tough sport. Waking up early, training, running—it’s all demanding. You play football because you love it, not just because others are doing it.”

Despite his initial hesitations, Olofinjana admitted that over time, his sons' deep passion for the game led him to soften his stance. "I never wanted them to play football, but their love for the game is evident. It’s a joy to watch them grow in it,” he said with a sense of pride.

His first son, Femi (20), has already made a name for himself as a Center-Back for Birmingham City, currently on loan from West Bromwich Albion. His second son, who is only 12 years old, is part of Coventry City’s youth setup, continuing the family's footballing legacy. When asked whether he would like his son Femi to represent Nigeria at the national level, Olofinjana was supportive of his son’s future decisions. "He has every right to play for Nigeria. If the country believes he’s good enough, then why not?" he said. Although Olofinjana has a strong legacy with the Super Eagles, having represented Nigeria in numerous matches, Femi has chosen to represent Norway, where he was born during Olofinjana's tenure with SK Brann in 2004.

Femi has already made 10 appearances for Norway’s U18 team and has also featured in the UEFA Euro U19 Championship Qualifiers, marking an impressive start to his international career. His decision to represent Norway has raised questions among Nigerian football fans, but Olofinjana respects his son's autonomy in choosing his national team allegiance.
