The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has issued an official public disclaimer, warning football fans and the general public about a fraudulent X (formerly Twitter) account impersonating the Super Eagles' head coach, Eric Chelle.
In a statement released on the Super Eagles’ verified X handle on Saturday night, the NFF clarified that Eric Chelle does not operate any X account. The football governing body emphasized that any account on the platform claiming to be Chelle is fake and does not represent him in any capacity.
The NFF urged football enthusiasts to be cautious of misleading information and fraudulent activities carried out by impersonators. The federation stated that Chelle’s only legitimate social media presence is on Instagram, under the handle: [@eric_chelle].
“Super Eagles Head Coach, Eric Chelle, does not have an X account. His only official social media presence is on Instagram: [@eric_chelle],” the statement read.
The NFF further advised the public to report and disregard any posts from fake X accounts falsely claiming to represent Chelle. This cautionary notice aims to protect fans from potential misinformation, cyber fraud, and misleading statements attributed to the coach.
With an increasing number of fake accounts spreading rumors and misinformation, the NFF reminded fans to rely only on official communication channels for updates on the Super Eagles and the national team’s affairs.
Meanwhile, Coach Eric Chelle and the Super Eagles squad are currently camped in Uyo as they intensify preparations for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe. The match is set to take place on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
