Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offload their current No.1 goalkeeper, Andre Onana, as the club plans for a squad overhaul under incoming manager Ruben Amorim.

Onana, who arrived at Old Trafford from Inter Milan last summer, has had a turbulent season filled with inconsistent performances, leading to doubts over his long-term future at the club.

According to reports from The Sun, United’s patience with the Cameroonian goalkeeper has worn thin due to his high-profile errors in crucial matches, prompting the decision to listen to offers for him in the upcoming transfer window.

The Saudi Pro League has emerged as a potential destination for Onana, with multiple clubs expressing interest in acquiring his services. The lucrative financial backing of the Saudi league means United could recoup a significant portion of the £47.2 million they spent on him in 2023.

Meanwhile, Amorim has wasted no time in identifying potential replacements as he looks to reshape the squad in preparation for the new season. The Portuguese tactician is reportedly prioritizing a reliable shot-stopper to strengthen the team’s defensive stability.

One of the top names on United’s shortlist is 22-year-old Senne Lammens, the highly-rated Royal Antwerp goalkeeper who has recently broken into the Belgian national team. Lammens, valued at approximately £30 million, is seen as a long-term investment with significant potential for growth.

Another alternative being considered is Lucas Chevalier, the talented 22-year-old goalkeeper from Lille. Chevalier has long been on the radar of both Manchester clubs and is regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in Europe. Lille, however, are expected to demand a transfer fee in the region of £40 million for their prized asset.

Both Lammens and Chevalier are under contract with their respective clubs until 2027, which could make negotiations challenging for United. However, Amorim is determined to secure a top-quality goalkeeper who aligns with his tactical vision for the club.

United’s search for a new No.1 could face further competition, as Manchester City are also reportedly in the market for a goalkeeper. City are planning for a potential successor to Ederson, who has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.

With multiple options being explored, United are expected to make a decisive move in the coming weeks as they look to reinforce their squad for the upcoming season.
