Raúl Jiménez delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice to guide Mexico to their first-ever CONCACAF Nations League title in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Panama at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Jiménez wasted no time making an impact, opening the scoring just eight minutes into the game with a well-placed header. However, Panama responded before halftime, with Adalberto Carrasquilla netting the equalizer to keep their hopes alive.

As the match appeared to be heading toward extra time, Mexico found a decisive breakthrough in the 90th minute. Panama’s center-back José Córdoba was penalized for a handball inside the 18-yard box, awarding El Tri a crucial penalty.

Jiménez stepped up to the spot and calmly converted, securing the victory and sparking jubilant celebrations among the Mexican players and fans.

The triumph was particularly significant for Mexico, who had suffered defeats to the United States in both the 2019-20 and 2023-24 CONCACAF Nations League finals. By finally claiming the trophy, they avoided a third consecutive heartbreak on this stage.

Jiménez’s heroics also had historical significance. With his brace, he surpassed Cuauhtémoc Blanco to become Mexico’s third all-time leading goal scorer with 39 goals, further cementing his legacy in national team history.

The 33-year-old striker played a pivotal role in securing Mexico’s first-ever Nations League crown and adding another prestigious title to the team’s rich history, marking their 17th official trophy in international competition.
