Chelsea have officially unveiled their all-time greatest XI to commemorate the club’s 120th anniversary, with legendary figures Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba, and Frank Lampard among those honored in the prestigious lineup.

Founded in March 1905, Chelsea celebrated their milestone by allowing fans worldwide to vote for their ‘Team of 120.’ The lineup was arranged in a 4-3-3 formation, highlighting some of the most influential players in the club’s rich history.

In goal, Petr Čech was the clear choice, recognized for his dominance between the sticks during his 11-year tenure at Stamford Bridge. Čech remains the club’s all-time clean sheet record holder and was instrumental in Chelsea’s most successful era.

The defensive line featured a mix of modern and past greats, with César Azpilicueta at right-back, legendary captain John Terry and Brazilian stalwart Thiago Silva as center-backs, and Ashley Cole at left-back. Terry, who won five Premier League titles, was an undisputed pick, while Silva’s leadership and consistency secured his spot.

In midfield, Chelsea’s all-time leading goal scorer, Frank Lampard, was an automatic inclusion. He was joined by two of the club’s most accomplished defensive midfielders, Claude Makélélé and N’Golo Kanté. Makélélé, whose role at Chelsea redefined modern defensive midfield play, and Kanté, a two-time Premier League winner known for his relentless work rate, completed a formidable midfield trio.

Up front, the attacking trio consisted of Didier Drogba, Eden Hazard, and Gianfranco Zola. Drogba, a four-time Premier League champion and Chelsea’s greatest big-game player, was an obvious pick, remembered for his legendary equalizer and winning penalty in the 2012 UEFA Champions League final.

Hazard, widely regarded as one of the most gifted dribblers in Premier League history, was included for his game-changing performances and influence during his seven-year Chelsea career. Completing the trio was Zola, a creative genius and the only player in the lineup to have played before the Roman Abramovich era. Zola, revered for his vision and technique, was instrumental in Chelsea’s late 1990s resurgence.

Despite their past glory, Chelsea currently find themselves in a transitional phase, far from the dominance they once enjoyed. However, under new manager Enzo Maresca, the club remains in contention for silverware, with a strong focus on securing the UEFA Conference League title.

Looking ahead, Chelsea will aim to boost their Premier League campaign when they face arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur on April 3 in a crucial London derby.
