Football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to the death of the man who discovered him, Aurelio Pereira, Sporting CP’s former head of recruitment.

According to reports, Aurelio Pereira was the one who first noticed the exceptional talent that the footballer possessed and subsequently recruited him into the Sporting CP academy. His contribution to the sport and to the development of many young talents, including Ronaldo, is celebrated by many in the football world.

Before his death, Aurelio Pereira founded Sporting CP’s recruitment and training department back in 1988 with the primary goal of discovering young, talented footballers who could make an impact in the professional game. His efforts not only helped Ronaldo rise to prominence but also brought attention to the careers of several other outstanding players. Pereira is said to have been instrumental in the development of around 10 players who went on to win the Euro 2016, further solidifying his legacy in Portuguese football.

Reacting to the passing of the man who played such a pivotal role in shaping his career, Ronaldo took to his Instagram page to express his heartfelt tribute. He wrote, “One of the greatest symbols of world training has left us, but his legacy will live on forever.”

Ronaldo continued, “I will never stop being grateful for everything he did for me and for so many other players.” He ended his post with a touching message, saying, “Until forever, Mr. Aurélio, thank you for everything. Rest in peace.”
