Chelsea legend Gustavo Poyet has cautioned the club against signing Victor Osimhen during the upcoming January transfer window.

The Nigerian forward has attracted interest from several top European clubs in recent years, with Chelsea being one of the prominent suitors. However, Poyet, in a recent interview, advised that the club should avoid disrupting their current plans by bringing in Osimhen.

Gustavo Poyet expressed his belief that Chelsea should be cautious before making a major investment in a striker.

"Seeing how the team is performing now, will I bring someone who may unsettle the team? No. So you need to find the right player, the right character. More importantly, the right character that if he’s coming, he’s going to help and he’s going to improve the team and the competition. You [don’t want] someone who is going to come and they’re going to mess everything around, you know? I think right now maybe going the whole season with the quantity of players that Chelsea go with. They have enough and [let]s see how they finish, then maybe in the summer is a different matter but, in January, I’m not so sure, but again it’s a question for Maresca.”

Victor Osimhen has been in excellent form since his move to Turkey, scoring 8 goals in 10 games for Galatasaray. However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will make a bid for him in January or wait until the summer transfer window.
